Historic Photography in Colombia

The National Museum has this small exhibition about historical photography in Colombia. In addition to the dated techniques, the photos provide glimpses of Colombian history.

Portraits of members of Colombia's Constitutional Convention

The aftermath of the explosion of six trucks of dynamite in Cali in 1956.
Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera, who fought in the revolution and was president of Colombia four different times, plays chess in prison. I'm not sure what he was doing in prison, tho.

A downtown Bogotá church - but which one?

A mule-driven streetcar arrives in El Parque Santander after an hour's trip from Chapinero. Today, when traffic's heavy, it might take much longer. Behind the streetcar is La Iglesia La Tercera, which still stands. The photo's text says that in December 1854 several generals were shot and killed from the church's tower.

A scene from Colombia's centenery celebration, held in el Parque de la Independencia.

The Plaza Bolivar in the first decade of the 1900s, after a great fire nearby.

The four men who strangled someone named Joaquin Vega in the 1850s.
